Listed below are different ways to uninstall OmniPage Ultimate:

Uninstall through 'Add/Remove Programs' in the Control Panel:
Note: We recommend always using this step first.

  1. Open the Control Panel by clicking 'Start > Control Panel'.
  2. Open 'Add or Remove Programs' (or 'Programs and Features' in Windows Vista and Windows 7).
  3. Locate and highlight 'Nuance OmniPage 18'.
  4. Click the 'Remove' button or the 'Uninstall ' button in Windows Vista and Windows 7.
  5. Follow the wizard completely through the uninstall process.


Remover Tool:
The OmniPage remover tool is an application which enables complete removal of OmniPage without requiring users to edit the System Registry, or search for individual files for deletion.

To use the remover tool for OmniPage please follow the steps below (These steps will not generate a log):

  1. Click here to download the Remover Tool for OmniPage Ultimate.
  2. Once it is downloaded, double-click the 'OP19Remover.zip' file to unzip the Remover Tool.
  3. Browse to the folder that was just extracted and double-click on the 'Remover.exe' file.
  4. Click 'Yes' to start the removal of OmniPage.
  5. After the Remover has completed, navigate to 'C:Program FilesNuance' and delete the 'OmniPage' folder if it still exists.
  6. Empty the Windows Recycle Bin by right-clicking on it and choosing 'Empty Recycle Bin'.
  7. Restart the computer.

Note: The Remover Tool posted above will remove all instances of OmniPage 15.2, OmniPage 16, OmniPage 16.1, OmniPage 17 and OmniPage 18. If other versions of OmniPage were installed (OmniPage 15.1 and previous versions) then the corresponding Remover Tools will still need to be used for those prior versions of OmniPage.

If it becomes necessary to generate a log showing the results of the remover tool, follow the steps below, which will create a file named remover.log in the same location as remover.exe:

  1. Click here to download the Remover Tool for OmniPage Ultimate.
  2. Once it is downloaded, double-click the 'OP19Remover.zip' file to unzip the Remover Tool.
  3. Extract the contents of the file to the following location: 'C:OP19Remover'.
  4. Click 'Start > Run'.
  5. Copy the text below and paste it into the Run Dialog:
    C:OP19RemoverRemover.exe /installdir='C:Program FilesNuanceOmniPage' /inifile='C:OP19RemoverRemover.xml' /log
    Note: The '/installdir' switch is set for the default install directory - this must be changed if OmniPage was installed to another location. In order for a log file to be created, '/log' needs to appear at the end of the command line. This can be removed if no log file is desired.
  6. Click the 'OK' button on the 'Run' dialog.
  7. Click 'Yes' to start the removal of OmniPage.
  8. After the Remover has completed, navigate to 'C:Program FilesNuance' and delete the 'OmniPage' folder.
  9. Empty the Windows Recycle Bin by right-clicking on it and choosing 'Empty Recycle Bin'.
  10. Restart the computer.

Remover tool located on the CD:
This tool is also available on the OmniPage CD ([CD]:OmniPageTools). Depending on the version of OmniPage to be removed, use the remover by copying the appropriate files to C:OP19remover and following the steps listed above.

  • [CD]:OmniPageToolsRemover.exe and remover.xml.


Notes:

  • [CD] would denote the drive letter assigned to your CD-ROM drive, such as D:
  • To run the Remover Tool, the Windows User Account must have administrator rights.
  • This does not remove the PDF Create and PaperPort components from the system. Please refer to the following Technotes for uninstall instructions based on the version of OmniPage used.
    • For PDF Create 7 use Technote 6307: 'PDF 7 manual uninstall instructions'.
    • For PaperPort 12 use Technote 6177: 'Manual uninstall instructions for PaperPort 12'.
